This series just kept getting better and better. We see more of Zayne in this book, and the rivalry between Zayne and Roth over Layla. However, something happens that allows Layla to kiss Zayne (trying very hard not to spoil). And now the triangle love is getting real.
If officially falls under the category of books where "you are panicking because you seriously have absolutely no idea who the heroine is going to end up with because both choices are real". Even Jennifer had no idea beforehand, which is why she held that post for us to choose.
(By the way, no one has ever done that. And more authors should do that. Jennifer will have my lifetime blessing for this.)
But Roth got so much better in this book. I don't know why, but he's growing on me. Like, the more I read him, the more I'm falling in love with him. I don't know if it's because we get more glimpses of his true self and the depth of his character, or it's just Jennifer's natural weird ability to make me love the character more every time I read them.
If you're in any way disappointed or didn't like the first book as much, Stone Cold Touch totally redeemed it. It's amazing. Now, I don't know if it's because I've only read Twilight once, but I never noticed all the comparisons between this and Twilight until other readers mention it. If that's the case for you, don't worry it's much better. Layla is a beautiful, strong (literally), and capable girl who does not need a prince of hell of a hot warden to save her. And...there's the whole case where Roth is actually quite similar to Rhysand from Court of Thorns and Roses, if you liked that series.
This book did end in a cliffhanger, but even if there aren't any, I would've continued the series anyway because looking at how it's getting better and better drastically, there is no way I'm missing the third book.

Stone Cold Touch The Dark Elements Book 2 eBook Jennifer L Armentrout Reviews
I loved Stone Cold Touch! I really, really loved it! All of the things I didn’t care for in the first novel, White Hot Kiss, were fixed, and the plot seemed more cohesive. In this novel, Layla is dealing with Roth’s sacrifice and how differently the Wardens treat her in light of her relationship with the demons. She is also dealing with her conflicting feelings towards both Zayne and Roth, which have become even more complicated now that she and Zayne have practically become inseparable. On top of everything, Layla now has a new demonic companion that changes her interactions with everyone around her, and grappling with the possible evolution of her powers.
In White Hot Touch I didn’t particularly think the triangle was very well-developed, or that the Big Bad was that great. Thankfully, JLA improved so much in these two areas. Stone Cold Touch, as the name implies, focuses on Layla’s relationship with Zayne. Through the course of this book the two try to find a way to be together despite Layla’s curse, and her feelings for Roth. Layla also discovers how deeply Zayne feels for her, and that her feelings might not have always been unrequited. By the end of this book I was completely torn over who Layla should chose.
Both guys are hot and care for Layla. They both also offer her different things. Roth understands Layla, and allows her to be herself. He doesn’t try to shelter her, but allows her to make her own decisions. Zayne also understands Layla, is her best friend and confidant, and will do anything to protect her. Even if he pisses off everyone else in his life. Honestly, at this point I will be happy if she ends up with either of the guys, but if forced to chose between them I’d pick what seems to be the less popular choice Zayne. The two have a great history together, and I think in the long run she’d be happier with him.
The second problem with WHK, was the Big Bad. JLA chose the best person to be the villain this time around, and the end of the novel left me sitting with my mouth hanging completely open. I’m so glad I never read this series until now, because if I had to wait more than a month and half for the third book, I’d be so pissed. LOL! I just have too many series I’m reading that have left me in anticipation over the next book in the series. Ugh, but that’s another story…
Do I Recommend?
This book is so much better than the first, that there’s no way I can’t recommend it. However, you’ll have to get through the first book in order to get to this one, but it’ll be worth it. Per usual, JLA keeps you glued to the page from beginning to end, and the steamy scenes leave you wanting more. Who knew Zayne had it in him? Unfortunately, I wouldn’t recommend skipping the first book and beginning the series with Stone Cold Touch. Too much happens in the first novel, and you’d miss all of Roth in his glory.
This is book 2 in the series and was a good continuation for the trilogy. It was chock full of action, drama, humor, sexiness, sweet moments, and heartbreaking moments. I mean, good grief Jen! She sure knows how to write a phenomenal story that gets you in the feels! Don't get me wrong, I'm totes Team Roth and ALWAYS will be, but I did like Zayne more in this story, but I'm keeping my fingers crossed for my demon prince to win! D
Her relationship changes with Zayne in this story (obviously from the title, most would gather that would happen). It's not really a love triangle per se though. Zayne is her comfort zone, safety, and makes her feel warm. But Roth challenges her and makes her feel. I'd like to say it's a tough choice to make, but I and and ALWAYS will be Team Roth!! So there's my vote. LOL
There were so many AMAZING scenes and twists throughout this read, that I don't want to delve into any of them, but just suggest you read it for yourself. Lets talk about the ending real quick. HOLY CRAP!!!! About the last 20% or so of the book will straight up give you anxiety (at least it did me lol)! It also ends on a cliffy, so fair warning. Now to wait and see who the fans will choose Roth or Zayne!
Can't wait for book 3 to come out!!!
