Just finished and this was wonderful and well worth the wait - I loved reconnecting with Luke and the gang. These was plenty of action, great interaction between characters and he brought us right back into the storyline. Thanks for the prologue recap too.The build up and construction of Luke's army along the journey to Utah was creative and well thought out. Don't be surprised by all of Luke's new abilities, after all he has 'hunter' blood in him now. Jack and his friends in Vicksburg have their part in the action all leading to a big confontation with "President" Barnes in Utah. I loved this new book, beautifully written, well edited, and a great addition to the series.

Again Vohs does the unthinkable and shreds new light and enjoyment in a often over-done and predictable genre.
4 Stars due to the fact that 5 Stars states perfection. Yet, this was really fun to read and continues to be a favorite series that I hold as a must read whenever a new title is released.
Will not be a twit and try and explain the story in a synopsis, please stop doing this, it's a regurgitation of the authors story that you feel compelled to write. Just go and leave a truthful review.
Please Mr Vohs have the next entry for Crusade out ASAP. It really is a great series!
Thank you for the escapism!
I like the series and I like how they have transitioned from one main character to the other. I do admit though I would like to see more of Jack and his core group kicking butt and taking names. That said, I've always liked a good hero who can do amazing things and Luke fits that bill very well. I would like to see more of him and some heroic exploits. Its a very good series and this book continued to be just as good. I look forward to #7.
So book 6 in the Zombie Crusade takes on a different adventure with Luke and partners while still keeping up with Jack and the gang. Overall I love what happens in this book and they way the story takes several different turns and twists. If you have not read the Snap Shot stories you need to as this book makes a couple references of Luke and Gracie going to Israel one day (I can't wait to see that book). If love this series you will enjoy this one as well. The ending of the book left me hanging on the edge and wanting to read book 7 as soon as it comes out. I think perhaps the most interesting portion of this book is how the author starts to bring more human qualities into some of the Zombies. All in all a great book and a great series.
It takes authors so dang long to write the Next books in line is why I gave this 4 stars... That and I feel like it's kinda missing or losing something in all the add ons and separate stories with zero references to Canadian survivors or Terry who was with Zach in final battle.. And also doesn't lead in.....
I read somewhere that this was the final book? I would hate for that tot be true. Because this book felt like it was written by someone completely different from the first book and I had hoped that this was more of a teaser to keep us interested since it took SO LONG for the book to come out in the first place. I have read entire series again and the last one just doesnt do it ....
This is no longer a traditional zombie series. Those of you who want zombie action scenes -- there's still some of that. But, Vohs has moved this story well past the point of simple entertainment, which I would suspect is all he ever initially set out to do with the first couple installments. This isn't a zombie story where you're going to be on the edge of your seat wondering who is going to live or die. Our heroes have learned how to fight back, and they are no more afraid of the Hunters than they are of lions, tigers, and bears (oh my). This is a zombie story, however, that's going to make you think about when it is worth living and when it is worth dying--and about what makes humanity human.
It's Book six and the story has not slowed down or run its course. J.W. Vohs continues his epic story of humanity not just surviving but fighting back against the darkness. If one ever wanted to know what it is to be an American read his books. His characters and stories capture the American Spirit and ego that so many have forgotten within ourselves. That being said I thoroughly enjoyed his latest book and now have the sad but eager duty of trying to be patient for his next book. The author like a modern Scheherazade, loves to leave each book with the story right in the middle of a plot development. Leaving us chomping at the bits and fighting the urge to not break our kindles in frustration. For anyone who is a fan of zombies, post apocalyptic, or just the perseverance of mankind over adversity then look no further. J.W.Vohs has become one of my favorite authors and look forward to book 7.
I rated Transformation 5 stars; more than my last rating for the last book in this series because Vohs got back to what I really look for in my favorite ZA stories. Great characters, great action but also a good story. In the last book, I thought the story was too chaotic and the action overwhelmed the story telling. In Transformation, the story focuses mostly on Luke and the other main characters were around but not the focus. There was still a lot of action but it was better paced and much less time was spent on the action sequences.
Also, I have never liked any zombie story that had a character get bite, and continue on as part of the story (Luke in volume 5 was bite). That is usually when I check out of a zombie series. However, I really bought the way Vohs has written Luke's transformation after his bite.
What does set Vohs apart from other ZA authors is the quirky military history he throws into his books that can be a good history lesson along with your zombie story.
I read under unlimited and then turned around and bought it for my collection. I did not buy volume V.
I am looking forward to Volume VII, but it does seem like the story is coming to a conclusion and maybe that is where the story should end.
